How to Volunteer
If you’re interested in becoming a tutor, please reach out to your professors to learn about possible class credit and email Community Programs Director, Randi Miller. Times and locations of activities are to be determined due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tutors and learners will commit to participate from January – June.
The time commitment for tutors is as follows:
Initial training: one 2-hour training session: Monday, January 10th 6:30-8:30pm on Zoom.
Weekly tutoring sessions: Learners and tutors work together for a minimum of one hour each week in person or on Zoom. Every pair’s schedule will be determined by each person’s availability. Prep time is required for each session. Tutoring begins the week of January 17th after Monday, MLK Day.
Weekly communication: with program director and written weekly assessments.
Tutor Roundtables: Tutors meet to discuss successes and challenges.
LEAD Social: All tutors and learners come together to build community and have fun.
Pre-Graduation Pizza Party for tutors and learners on Monday, May 30th (time & place TBD) Attendance strongly encouraged to cultivate a sense of community.
Graduation Ceremony: Monday, June 6th 2022 6:30-9pm
